I was inspired by We magazine and their great work. There was also the constant buzz around Albany, New York that we should do a spoken word tape (something which just recently occurred with the release of Volume). I began gathering tapes from people I knew and whose work I respected and also handing out fliers at every poetry event I attended. The editing process was a tough one, but I thank the good people of TWA and the Boulder Youth Hostel for quiet time, and Scot Hacker, also our collage artist, and Kent Taylor for their input. Thanks to Risa Morley for putting me in touch with former Sire Records artist Meryn Cadell. My heartiest thanks go out to John Malboeuf for editing this master together, and tinkering with some of the tracks to make them sound just right. Since these recordings have all been recorded from different sources there will not be the consistency that you would get if everyone went into a recording studio and taped their words. I tend to think that is the beauty of this tape. Enjoy and be Good, David Kirschenbaum
